Bank sets RM1bil target for its personal loan scheme

BANK Pertanian Malaysia (BPM) has set RM1bil as its target this year for its personal loan, the Agro-Cash scheme, that currently offers the lowest interest rate for personal loans at 5.08%.

"Leading up to our corporatisation plans beginning March 1, BPM will be more dynamic and aggressive in promoting our services and products, such as the Patriotic Award, to attract more customers from our current market and also from urban cities," BPM general manager Martini Osman said.

Yesterday, Martini launched the National Patriotic Award BPM 2008 in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, aimed at showing appreciation to its loyal customers as well as to attract more people to open an account to secure their savings in BPM.

"This year’s award also includes the newly launched Proton cars, the Persona and Saga, as the grand national prize for our customers," she said.

Last year’s Patriotic Award national winner, Fazilah Abdul Rahim, 42, did not even know about the Patriotic Award until she was announced the winner of the grand prize of a scooter three weeks ago.

The business owner, who had opened a BPM account in 2002, said she would learn how to use the scooter, as she is not very good at riding motorcycles.

The National Patriotic Award began in 2002 as a loyalty reward program and all BPM account holders with at least RM200 in their accounts are eligible for the draw.

Also present at the event was BPM banking operations deputy general manager Mohamad Che Taib, Proton Edar regional operations manager (central region) N. Rajendran and BPM deputy general manager (business support) Ahmad Said.
